Materials & care

Discover the materials we use at Syleane and how to care for your jewellery so it stays beautiful for as long as possible.

Our metals

Gold, silver & mixed finishes

Syleane jewellery is crafted from carefully selected metals chosen for their shine, durability and comfort on the skin. Most of our pieces are made from sterling silver or a brass base with high-quality gold plating.

Materials we use

  • Sterling silver (925): Solid 925 sterling silver, often with a protective finish to slow down natural oxidation.
  • Gold-plated brass: A warm gold tone applied over a brass base, giving a luxurious look at a lighter weight.
  • Gold vermeil-style pieces: A thicker layer of gold on top of a precious metal base for longer-lasting colour and shine.
  • Solid gold accents: Delicate details or fine pieces made with solid gold for everyday keep-forever jewellery.
  • Mixed metal finishes: Soft contrasts between gold and silver tones, designed to be layered together without rules.

How to care for metal pieces

  • Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping to limit contact with water, sweat and friction.
  • Avoid direct contact with perfume, lotions, hair products or household cleaning products which can dull the finish.
  • After wearing, gently wipe each piece with a soft, dry cloth to remove traces of skin, oil or makeup.
  • Store your jewellery separately in soft pouches or compartments to avoid scratches and tangles.
  • If silver naturally darkens over time, use a dedicated silver polishing cloth and follow the instructions carefully.

A little care after each wear will keep the colour and shine of your Syleane pieces for longer.

Our stones

Gemstones & pearls

From sparkling cubic zirconia to natural gemstones and freshwater pearls, Syleane pieces are designed to catch the light with every movement.

Types of stones

  • Cubic zirconia & created stones: Brilliant, precise cuts that mimic the sparkle of diamonds, used in many of our pavé and tennis designs.
  • Natural gemstones: Colourful stones selected for their unique shades and character. Each stone can vary slightly, making every piece unique.
  • Pearls: Freshwater pearls with soft lustre. Slight differences in shape or surface are a natural part of their charm.

How to care for stones

  • Always put your jewellery on last, after applying perfume, hairspray or cosmetics, and remove it first in the evening.
  • Avoid knocks or hard impacts that could chip stones or loosen settings.
  • For pearls, gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let them dry completely before storing.
  • Do not use ultrasonic cleaners, aggressive polishes or chemical dips on gemstone or pearl jewellery.
  • Store pearl pieces flat in a soft pouch, away from very dry or very humid environments.
Pearls and porous stones are more delicate than metal alone. Treat them as the last touch of your outfit rather than something to wear in every situation.

Colour details

Enamel, texture & finishes

Some Syleane designs feature enamel, textured surfaces or special finishes that give extra depth and colour to your jewellery.

What to expect

  • Coloured enamel: Glossy colour carefully applied to the metal. Small differences and tiny variations are normal and part of the handcrafted look.
  • Textured surfaces: Hammered, brushed or satin finishes that are designed to catch the light in a softer, more organic way.
  • Special coatings: Protective layers used on some styles to help preserve colour and reduce premature tarnishing.

How to care for coloured pieces

  • Avoid bending, twisting or putting pressure directly on enamel areas to reduce the risk of cracks or chips.
  • Keep coloured jewellery away from alcohol-based products, strong detergents or abrasive surfaces.
  • Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not soak enamel pieces in water or cleaning solutions.
  • Store pieces so that enamel surfaces are not rubbing directly against other metal or stones.

Everyday care

Keeping your Syleane pieces beautiful

A simple routine will help your jewellery keep its shine and structure over time, especially for pieces you wear frequently.

Before & after wear

  • Put your jewellery on after your skincare, perfume and hair styling are finished.
  • Remove pieces before sport, swimming, sauna, spa treatments or household cleaning.
  • After wearing, wipe gently with a soft cloth to remove any moisture, oil or makeup from the surface.

Storage & travel

  • Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to avoid scratches and tangles.
  • Keep jewellery away from direct sunlight, high humidity and extreme temperatures.
  • When travelling, use a dedicated jewellery case so chains and hoops do not catch on fabrics or other items.
